LUSCIOUS MUSIC: We’re excited to be going to the concert of Grammy-nominated jazz musician, Stacey Kent, on Monday night at the Elisabeth Murdoch Hall at the Melbourne Recital Centre…

Mr Luscious introduced me to the wonderful music of the elegant American-born Ms Kent – and her husband, composer and saxophonist, Jim Tomlinson – a few years ago, and she’s joined our most-played compilation of delicious style, amongst the likes of Dianne Reeves, Melody Gardot, Jane Monheit, and Diana Krall, at Chez Luscious.
But I also remember her from the 1995 film production Richard III starring Sir Ian McKellan, where she sung a jazz version of Christopher Marlowe’s poem The Passionate Shepherd to His Love.
You can buy the movie and the soundtrack if you want to revisit this great film.
Stacey was born in the United States but moved to London where she met and married fellow musician, Jim Tomlinson, in 1991.
She has also lived and studied in Paris, and now lives between the UK and US. More history here.
Obviously, she won us over with her fabulous music, but to discover she was charming and beautiful was a bonus.
My thanks to Stacey for responding to my recent email personally – and my apologies for being a lax correspondent! We truly hope you have a great tour, Stacey, and hope to catch up with you in the future!
See more via Stacey Kent’s official website and Facebook page, as well as the Melbourne Recital Centre where there are still a few tickets left in the stalls for Monday’s concert (April 28, 2014).
